The Battle of Gettysburg
Emma: In May of 1863, General Robert E. Lee of the Confederacy led Southern forces to invade the Northern States. These opposing armies met in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, on July 1st, and 3 days of horrendous fighting occurred.
After countless lives were lost and many more injured and missing, the Union army reigned victorious. 23,049 Union soldiers were killed, wounded, missing or captured, while 28,063 Confederate soldiers were killed, wounded, missing, or captured. |
